Why people land on this page.

Three short notes from the support inbox — pinned here because they match the majority of sideloading intent.

Region-restricted user

An app that's blocked in your country.

You're on a network where the Play Store returns a regional "not available" error. APK2Down mirrors the upstream APK with the original signing certificate intact, served from a neutral CDN edge — so the install path is identical to a Play Store install once the package is on your device.

  • Same signature as the upstream build, byte-for-byte verified against the developer certificate.
  • No region check at install time — the mirror is the file, not a stub.
  • SHA-1 published next to every download so you can compare locally.

QA tester

You need yesterday's staging build.

Internal QA pipelines break when a Play Store version bumps mid-test. The catalog keeps the prior 30+ versions of every package, so you can pin a build hash, reproduce a regression, and roll forward without waiting for an internal mirror to sync.

  • Version history retained per package — diff-able changelog on the file page.
  • APK signature v1 / v2 / v3 inspector on every file page.
  • Direct CDN URLs work with curl, wget, Gradle, and CI runners.

Legacy-device restorer

A tablet that won't accept current builds.

You're resurrecting a device stuck on Android 7 or 8 — or an old Wear OS / TV build — and the current Google Play build no longer supports that ABI or SDK level. The catalog retains the last compatible signed APK for 92 categories, with minSdkVersion surfaced next to every file.

  • Filter by min Android version, ABI (armeabi-v7a, x86, x86_64), and DPI.
  • Each file page lists the build's original targetSdk and minSdk.
  • No installer wrapper — sideload-ready, the way the developer shipped it.

Maintainer's notes

Four things a sideloader asks first.

How is each APK verified?

Every file is scanned by three engines — VirusTotal, MetaDefender, and our proprietary APK2Guard pipeline. The SHA-1 checksum of the hosted byte-for-byte artifact is published on the file page so you can verify it locally with sha1sum or any checksum tool. Since 2021, zero malware incidents have been reported on any APK hosted in the catalog.

How fast is the catalog refreshed?

The indexer polls upstream version metadata continuously and re-indexes within 4 hours of any Play Store version bump — the fastest refresh window in the APK mirror industry, audited quarterly by AndroidPolice. The top of the hero shows the time since the last successful update tick.

Will Play Protect block these installs?

The hosted APKs carry the same signing certificate as the developer-published build. Because APK2Down is an independent mirror (not affiliated with Google or any developer whose apps are mirrored), the signature path is identical to the original. If a future Play Protect rollout adds a stricter check, the catalog surfaces the APK signature version (v1 / v2 / v3) on each file page so you can decide before downloading.

Is anything bundled with the download?

No installer wrappers, no third-party ad SDKs, no forced registration. The mirror is the file, served as-is from a CDN edge. Audited clean by Exodus Privacy in March 2024. The organization behind the catalog is APK2Down Media Pte. Ltd., Singapore — see /trust/ for the full methodology, uptime, and incident history.
